Mona Gazala

This project was the juxtaposition of two schools, one full, one empty. My aunt was visiting the Rawdat el Zuhur (Garden of Flowers) School in East Jerusalem and recorded some audio for me of children at recess and children playing at a local playground. I then had the opportunity to transpose the sound of a full-to-bursting school on an empty, disused Columbus school building, the Neil Avenue School. The classroom where the installation took place was empty but for the scattering of brightly-colored balls and the audio of the Palestinian children playing. There was no explanation given. Visitors were welcome to play in their own manner.
